Default ? about plastic cover on rsx!

I was wanting to know if there should be plastic underneath the engine block or on either side of it. My rsx-s doesn't have any protective plastic around those areas. It does have plastic around the tires but not where the engine and the tires should be seperated. I am worried because winter is here and I don't want salt or dirt and snow to build up on my engine and it seems like all my old hondas had this protective plastic?

the engine cover is basically there for aesthetic reasons. too much crap covering the engine will make it harder for the engine to dissipate heat

i understand what you are saying, and maybe i am going out on a limb......

but, i wonder if they designed the covers with any kind of air flow cooling dynamics in mind?

if air could get to the engine so can water and dirt

i dont think so. more plastic covering the engine would mean that more air gets trapped. if they had ducts, then it would be a different story. kind of like brake ducts. it guides air to cool rotors, but if you had plastic material covering the rotors, it would keep more heat and therefore inefficient.
