Im going to change my tranny fluid. I was going to buy it from Honda. But can you guys recommend anything better.

Royal Purple Synchromax for the tranny feels a bit better than GM Synchromesh even, and I use the RP for the rear end also.

I'll never understand tranny fluid. I used GMSMFM and it seemed to make the tranny a bit more smooth. My friend used GMFMSM on his teg though and after a track event, changed it and it was like water. So I don't know. I'd like to use that Royal Purple stuff and see how that goes. Also I've never really heard anything bad about Redline MTF once it warms up (supposedly it can be clunky when cold).

From my experiance -

Pennzoil 10w30 = Meh
Honda MTF = OK
GM Synchromesh = OK
GM Synchromesh FM = Pretty Good

 

i also want to try the redline.... the clunkyness.. well.... pretty much all tranny fluids are clunky when cold...

 

royal purple is Great IMO I changed it in my diff and made the car feel so much smoother im proboably going to do my tranny this afternoon at work

I'm running it and it's great. This is NOT the same as normal GM Synchromesh- I DO NOT recommend normal GM Synchromesh.

Thanks everyone... Going with the royal purple in the Trans and the Diff..

 

My BMW mechanic says that RP is all he uses and will not use anything else on the cars he works on and his personal cars. Maybe I'll give RP a shot next time.

 

It's a good mod for $80.

 

Since when is oil a mod?!

I can think of much better things for $80!

I consider it a mod if it makes the driving feel better. Its not just oil either; I swapped tranny and diff fluid too.
