Default wrong gas! ahhh

i just got my car and dropped a b16 in. stupid me put 87 instead of 93. dropped it a few times and heard knocking. i filled it up with half premium and the other half is the 87 i used. whats the chances of permament damage? i know the knock sensor is good until 5k but i've gone to 8200 a few times without knowing i used the wrong octane. the car runs ok now, less vibrations and such. been drivin under 3 k when i found out. this topic been covered many times and yea i used searched but nothign came up for b16 that i wanted. help! octane booster good?

my problem is similar, except I've put my b16 in and already have a half tank of 87 octane, I guess I'll fill up with 93 and add octane booster, is that what I should do.

octane booster doesn't really do anything unless your tank is almost empty. A full bottle of your average octane booster in a full tank of 87 would up the octane by .1-.2. I wouldn't expect a stock b16 to knock on 87 in the first place though.

You could always drain the tank if you are concerned about it but just baby it through this half and half tank get it damn near empty then fill up with premium and you should be good

Its funny cuase I drove a NA b16 and I felt like it had no power. Hell its not that much quicker stock for stock.

If you dont have an answer to his question then dont post.

Back on topic- try searching for dyno graphs of d16z6 motors. Should be able to tell from there somewhat.

if you want to drain the gas out, disconnect the return line from your fuel pressure regulator, connect a longer hose and stick the end in a gas can...start the car and let it idle... the gas will come out pretty fast.

^^^That is how we drain the gas out a turbo car on the dyno if they want to tune on race gas. Pumping it out of the system does seem to work pretty fast and hell it isnt a lot of work.

just stay out of vtec till the next fill up...it shouldn't knock below 6K rpm even at full throttle. put a large "premium gas only" sticker on your gas cap.

if you are so worried, put in 2 gallons of toluene and that will boost your octane up to right where it needs to be. I run a b16 2nd. generation with 91 premium (CA premium that is) with 2 gallons of Toluene everytime i fill up. Octane rating is at about 95.5

theres your answer, the JDM SIR2 b16 engines were orignally "tuned" on 100octane fuel in Japan. I guess 87 is on the low side.
