Default GSR Shortblock vs. ITR Shortblock

Aside from piston differences what other differences can be found between these shortblocks?

Just trying to determine what I may be loosing if I pickup a a GSR shortblock as opposed to a ITR shortblock.

They have different crankshafts.

The ITR crank has large counterweights giving it more rotational inertia. It's also balanced better.

kendall is right, i think the crank weighs 4 pounds more but the flywheel is 2lbs less than a GSR.

itr crank has heavier counterweights. it's more balanced at higher rpm's, but the gsr crank is lighter..so personally i would balance a gsr crank.

the itr rods are lighter and stronger, which, for stock..i like.

if the flywheel is included, which it rarely is...the flywheel is also lighter.

crank pulley, i think, is a little different too..i believe lighter and or smaller in some way..i forget.

and finally, the pistons, which you know about, of course.

ITR Short block should be cheaper than GSR from the factory. I think that is what Bert-O says about ITR parts. It's Mr. Honda's way of supporting racers.

yea I did that once, peppy motor. I didnt have the chance to tune it but I
mated it with my OEM tempered GSR head and IM. made about 170/128
at the tire with power everywhere. too bad my GSR was stolen the
day after thanksgiving I had plans for that block too... oh well.
