30k miles on a 94 CBR...too risky?
Since the summer is over, it's the perfect time for me to pick up a bike. I found a 94 Honda CBR F2 600 with 30k miles for pretty cheap. (~1500). A learner's bike. I could probably get him down a few hundred as well. Would it be too risky? How easy is a rebuild, perhaps?
30k isn't much for a well maintained vehicle - specailly considering the average mileage is less than 3k per year.
Those motors will do 100k with no prob - ya might hafta replace the cam chain guides after 50k but still, should be low risk.

I have 25K on my 01 r6 and the thing runs like a champ. you shouldn't have a problem, I'd have a mechanic check it out before you buy it though.
I'd be willing to bet if its been maintained, all it would need is a new CCT, and thats only if it hasnt been replaced already. I'd go for it if you get it checked out and everything looks in line.
my 93 F2 shows 35k miles... but the speedo was broken when i bought it, so it could have hundreds. i would guess its probably between 75 and 100k from its condition... she has been dropped AT LEAST 3 times, and i recently rear ended an old chevy at about 30mph on her... compleatly totaled the front fairings, headlight, gauges, mirrors, and windscreen... but she STILL runs very strong, i still rely on her to get to campus. as a matter of fact, she is more reliable than my friends pretty new GS500! only problem is the usual cam chain rattle when you first start the bike. I am very impressed with my F2, if you cant tell, lol.
