The LS, GS, RS all share the same engine: b18b Non-Vtec.
The only difference between the models would be options like power windows, door locks, ABS, sun roof, and things like that.
I dont know what you mean, "do a ls with a rs". FIY, the RS is the lightest model due to the lack of sunroof, power options, and ABS.

Also, Most people have no idea what the RS comes with and just assume no power anything.
Manual locks, no ABS, no sunroof, no cruise control, no spoiler (generally)... hub caps instead of LS meshies...
