Default sigh....vtec solenoid

So ya. I have a 96 hatch. 96 y8 head, intake mani and throttle body. I dont have the Vtec solenoid. Is the Vtec solenoid useless without the oil pressure switch and vise versa? Im talking to someone about purchasing one, and it does not have the oil pressure switch.

If someone could take 2 seconds of there day and confirm that I absolutely need the oil pressure switch, it will make my day Thanks

You will throw codes w/o it since your a non-jdm OBD2 setup. You dont *Need* it but keep in mind that the ecu retards Vtec w/o proper oil pressure levels. Either find a solenoid w/a oil pressure switch or buy a broke solenoid w/ a working oil pressure switch and just tap your jdm one.

ya basically dont waste your money on a oil pressureless solenoid unless you already have an oil pressure sensor but no solenoid. Reason being is that they're always sold as one unit.

I have the solenoid with its switch but I didn't connect the switch cuz I grounded the wire that comes from the switch's pinout and I runs great but sometimes, just sometimes I get the vtec oil switch check code... why is that?

Because vtec will not engage if your oil pressure is too low. If it can't read the oil pressure at all then I'm under the impression that vtec won't engage at all.

I does engage and runs great, I just get the check engine light sometimes, could it be ELD for that crazy idea of grounding the D6 pinout?
