when i am driving slowly up in rpms, i watch as my needle approaches 5000 rpms, expecting to hear vtec, and i dont. It works fine in other gears, except for 1st. in first it never seems to work. But if i gassed it i think it works allright. cant really tel because i have no muffler right now. I think all of my wiring is correct or else vtec wouldnt come on at all, but i just dont know for sure. Also my car seems slower than most cars w/ similar swaps. Vtec hits and it just mosey on along like a little girl. whats da deal guys??? (oh i have a 91 w/b16a)

It is also dependent on throttle position too. If you are creeping up on the rpm then it is not going to kick in.
