abs swap?
my friend has a 93' lude s model and picked up a 95' lude vtec with a title of destruction for extremely cheap. we are swapping everything: engine, full interior, etc...
he was wondering if there are any write ups on swapping an abs unit. anyone done this before? is it worth it? any information would be helpful. i searched a bit and didnt come up with anything.
thanks

Don't put it in, I just took mine out! it weighs a TON!! Not worth it.
But if you would like to...
You need to use the front brake lines, the proportioning valve, and the brake booster and master, along with the accompanying lines going from the proportioning valve to the abs unit.
You might need to bend the rear lines up just a tad to get them to fit into the abs proportioning valve.
PS: If you decide to do it, then make sure you do it BEFORE you put anything else in your engine bay, especially the engine. It's already gonna be a bitch getting it mounted! I had basically NOTHING in my engine bay and it still wasn't all that fun taking it out, even with the needed help of some friends.

I disagree... I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want ABS. I take you guys have never flat-spotted/corded R-comps on a Autocross course before.
If it's not to hard to switch over, and you already have the parts I would do it.

I have mixed feeling about the ABS system in the 4th and 5th Gen's. It doesn't work well. I tried it out last Winter. The car did not brake in a straight line. It was all over the place.
If I didn't have it I would not be disappointed but I don't dislike it enough to take it out.
If I didn't have it, I wouldn't make an attempt to put it in. However, since I have it I wouldn't try to pull it out either.

lol.... thanks for the comments once again.
i am pretty sure that we are just going to keep all the parts and save it for another day. so that if he ever does want it we will be ready to do it whenever.
his brakes work great now but abs is just an extra luxury that he could upgrade onto his prelude with the parts we have.

no and i prolly never will.....i don't run r-comps when i go road racing
but seeing as my ABS system is broken and is way to costly to fix, its needless weight thats all....
