Default Looking at 1989 CRX..

I'm looking at getting a 1989 CRX (Non Si) after an explorer hit my Mustang.. Is there anything I should know about these? I was thinking of doing a carbon fiber hood, Tein coilovers, and some nice 5 spoke rims.. Later a B16 or Built LS

Thanks.
Is there anything wrong mechanically with them, or that could go out that I should replace or look at before doing my upgrades?

these cars usually hold up pretty good. just do the normal maintance like change the fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, brakes, ext. then just drive it and enjoy the gas mileage.

i have an 89 dx and when i got it everything was fine. but about 2 months later i had to change the clutch cuz ts 16 years old. you also might look at the timing belt cuz if you dont you might end up throwing a rod through your block. i suggest the ls sawp. i wanna go for the b16 head and the b20 block for the torque. good luck man.

Magic,

Is it a DX or HF?

Most likely if you do any swapping motors in the future, you'll need to changes a bunch of things, fuel tank and pump, wiring harness and ECU, axles hubs rotors, etc.

Good luck.

Cheers,

Donnie
