I don't belive it stands for anything really. I think its just a classification. like hf and dx probably don't stand for anything.

DX= Deluxe
LX= Luxury
HF= High Fuel
EX= Extra
Si= Sport Injection, unlike the others the "i" in Si is small. This is because it was an addition to the S model designation when the Civic gained fuel injection in 1985.

Actually CRX, which everywhere else is CR-X, stans for
Civic Renaissance-Experiment. Or at least thats what I read.

Si = Somewhat Inexpensive.

good question i cant even guess as to wut they mean if they even mean anything c is the lowest so maybe crappy model hx is fuel econimy right? so maybe uhhhhh i dunno screw it

Sport inspired.
I've also heard Super injection for the 84(?) Prelude Si that was the first to have fuel injection.
What the hell is "sport injection" supposed to mean?
