Default d15 starting issues.

1991 Honda 1.5 Hatch

First I'll go through what I replaced. Injectors, ECU, Dizzy, Main relay, Ground straps.

Now for the problem.
My car starts 25% of the time. When it does run it runs great, then you turn it off and if it sits longer than 30 or so minutes it won't start for the next day or so. What it does is start then die right away...then somtimes start and bog and idle choppy and die after 30 or so seconds. Then others it runs great. But when it doesn't start the cel comes on and stays on. Even when you turn the ignition off and then back on it will not turn off. You can hear the main relay click on but not the fuel pump. I tested the pump with a test light and no power to it...but the dizzy also doesn't have spark when it doesn't start. Could this be a short in the electrical system? I figured I would ask here before I go out and swap the harness. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys.

When I first turn the ignition on the red light on the ecu lights up then dims slowly and shuts off...after about an hour it will light up again and do the same thing.

I used a voltmeter and tested the wires to the ecu. It seems they are not getting power...this could be my main problem correct? Because if the ecu is not getting power it won't allow the dizzy/fuel pump to operate right? Anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for this and how to regain power to the ecu?

sounds like you are on the right track with it being a wiring issue. search google for the honda crx manual. the files are everywhere. it has wiring diagrams for the 1.5.

when i first read this i thought it was definately a grounding problem, but you say you aren't getting power to the ecu, so i'd follow the wires and looks for cuts and make sure you have good connections.

this might sound stupid, but check your fuses also.

Well the ecu is getting power now. However the power into the man relay only tested at .002 volts, and the power to the fuel pump tested at.002 volts...this is starting to get confusing.

Problem started about 2 years ago before I got the car. All the wiring appeared to be original. I took the wrapping off to look for damaged wires. I dont get fuel or spark...but my check engine light is on no matter what and the ecu used to throw the fuel injector code...But I have tried multipul relays...about 5 to be exact...one even came out of a running driving car...but my car starts once every 2-3 days. No priming of the fuel pump..nothing. I did all the work with help from kyle and nick...even put a new trans/clutch/pressure plate/flywheel. in as well as head gasket, ecu, headgasket, dizzy, and about 4-5 diff. main relays. I hear the relay kicking on but the fuel pump doesnt prime and theres no spark.

if i had to put money on anything it would be bad grounds. they can cause all kinds of weird stuff to happen. i thought mine were good (tested using a voltmeter) but nothing seemed to fix my car. i got paranoid and ran completely new grounds to different points around the engine bay. started right up.
