RL rear window defogger
I've got a 2000 RL w/ a partial rear defogger problem. There appear to be two circuits controlling defogger. One circuit controls the bottom 75% of the window and the second grid covers the upper 25%. The bottom circuit is operating fine but the top circuit is not. No B+ at the upper terminal. There is absolutely no damage to the grid or connections, just no voltage. Any ideas how/where to attack? Is there a second fuse in the upper circuit?
The RL has it's radio antenna built into the top portion of the rear window. I think you may be mistaking the antenna grid portion of the window for part of the defroster.
Yea, as I was driving last nite, it hit me like a brick to the back of the head! Sure, that's the antenna. What a dummy - I forgot about the antenna being on the window. First car I've had in many years w/o an external antenna. When I saw the wire to this grid I should have realized that 16 or 18 ga. wire would never support the amps drawn by a defogger grid, which is fused at 40A!! Anyway, thanks for your reply.
