Default How much is too much!

I live here in AZ and have a b16a SIRII motor from Japan and would like to run some higher Octane fuel ( AZ highest is 91 ) for normal driving ..sometimes, but mainly when im at the track or roadracing. I think in Japan these engines took 100 Octane.

Any thoughts??

US and Japanese octane rating are different, and not directly comparable. You can't really have to high of an octane, ie it won't break anything. If your motor is stock, you won't see much gain from it however.

Well Im not worried about breaking anything and the motor is not stock there are some motor work done, and octane is rated the same eveywhere unless someone can prove different.

Fuels in the U.S. are described in terms of their "Pump Octane", which is the average of "RON" (Research Octane Number) and "Motor Octane Number". Labels on gasoline pumps in the U.S. typically describe this as the "(R+M)/2 Method".

Some nations describe fuels according to the traditional "RON" or "MON" ratings, so Octane ratings cannot always be compared with the equivalent U.S. rating by the "(R+M)/2 method".

I would'nt run anything over 105 without forged pistons. Really no reason to on a stock engine.

Use Toulene if you're that worried.. but I see no reason why you need more than 91 octane with a stock B16.

10% Toulene on 91 octane = 92.9
20% = 94.1
30% = 95.5

Don't go higher than 30% (Numbers taken from SCC article on octane boosters)
