Hello all-
Long time member, 1st time S2000 forum poster
You guys seem like a bunch of sarcastic ****** from reading some posts, im sure we will get along fabulously
Im about to pick up a AP1 and im wondering what kind of adjustment period im going to have to go through in learning the dynamics of how the s2000 handles in general. I have a long history of driving FF cars (every car ive owned since day 1 has been FF) and dont really have any extensive seat time behind rwd cars besides when friends who have rwd cars let me take them out for spins (that dont really involve "pushing" the car per se).
What kind of things do you recommend that first time daily driven rwd owners do to help the adjustment period go smoothly?
Thanks!
Todd

before owning an s2k i had a EM1. for the first 2-3 weeks i just drove it slowly experimenting different things such as launching, acclerating, and cornering. Like any other car the more u get used to it the harder u will be able to drive it.
lol...i have driven rear wheel drive cars almost all my life, i got in, drove it a few times and realized it was a little quirky, went to a parking lot so i could push it and see where it would break loose...and then all was well.
I always wanted to take a performance driving course with it though...never got a chance.

it breaks but is controllable unless you can't drive or weather is a factor
I would recommened a performance driving school to learn what the car is somewhat capable. Just remember the car is capable of alot more than what you are. It will take time to learn and push the car (prob not long at all, but be patient)

Yes, but the first few times will suprise you. Its his first time with a RWD vehicle its safe to say he won't be the best at driving the s2k yet.

if driving school is not readily available, i would try an autocross....

You think that's a suprise? Try a Z06 in the rain (or dry for that matter)...lol, you'll have a stroke.

Get used to the "short throw" shifter and learn to shift well, so you don't go and blow your engine. Then, I'm sure there are auto-x events near where you live. That's a good place to test the limits of your car. Usually, people there are more than willing to help and give suggestions. And remember, if you don't spin out at least once, you're not pushing it hard enough.

The thing is, I had people drive my car at driftdays. They wanna get off the gas, touch the brakes, then back on the gas, but theres not enough time. Instead of that, just STOMP STOMP STOMP the gas.
