Default which exhaust

I want to get exhaust put on my car to gain some horsepower and too look better as well. I dont want a super loud exhust system that sounds like a weed wacker or something like that. I like the way the intake sounds when you get on it.....is there any good exhaust systems that wont be too loud but amplify the intake sound a lil bit?? Thanks

What do you mean, "amplify the intake sound?" Do you mean you want something to compliment the sound? The exhaust has no effect on the sound of the intake.

With exhaust systems, as with any modification, you need to determine the goal of your vehicle before you purchase one. Will you be making high amounts of power in the end? 200whp? 300whp? More?

There are several types of exhaust designs (not including the piping). You have chambered, straight through, and "twin loop" (which is similar to chambered).

The straight through canisters will be very loud. There is basically no backpressure and everything flows out smoothly and fast. This is good for high end power and high horsepower setups. The downside is that you lose some low end torque and it's VERY loud.

The chambered and "twin loop" setups are much quieter because of the chambers and extra piping within the canister. This may be the one you will be interested in. They free up some power and stay pretty quiet and low key. Don't expect to pull high horsepower numbers with these however.

The piping also has some effect on the sound. You want a diameter that suits your needs. For example, you don't need a 3" full exhaust for your daily driver making 160whp. And you don't want a 2.36" (60mm) system for your 400whp beast.

Look in the Integra FAQ and use the search feature. There are hundreds of options to choose from and I'm sure HT has an example of each one.
