Most likely you spun a bearing.. and blew a couple holes out of your block..

I blew up 3 single cam motors all from spun bearings.

letting your friend drive and doing 105 in 3rd gear was the reason why your motor blew.

could have been a spun bearing, low on oil probably just got that sucker hott and bam!

i had an oil change 2 months before it blew.. but after the motor blew we checcd the oil and it was low, is that the reason why it blew?

Low Oil means there isnt enough oil to keep all engine components lubricated.. stuff that isnt lubricated will create friction and heat.. too much friction and heat stuff breaks so that is prolly why you blew your engine..

Also that motor isnt suppose to see anything more than 7000 RPMS MAX! and u had it at 8000 RPMs... that could be a big issue as well.

but my friend told me its impossible to blow by reving to much because its supposed to tap out, do single cam motors tap out?

LOL tap out.. thats a first.

Its called a Rev Limit. You can blow any motor do a long burn out and bounce off the rev limit and watch what happens. causes alot of stress on the motor and it will go BOOM

well, if his MOTOR BLEW, and then he checked his OIL, woudlnt some oil have been lost in the process of it blowing by the friction and heat, therefore when he CHeCkeD HIS OIL AFTer the motor BLEW, it could not be accurate about the OIL LEVEL?

ya his level would be low.. but he doesnt say anything about checking it before hand.

Im going off assumption that his motor burnt some oil and Excessive RPM"s caused the motor to blow.

over-rev and spun a rod bearing, or just slung a rod. your friend must be a ******* idiot for taking your car to that high of RPM's, any stock single cam will not hold together above 7k. for very long

Add mine to the list. I've taken my ol' y8 to the land of 8k rpms (god rest her soul) but that was not a happy place for us......

my y8 in third gear redlines at 90mph.

Don't you think since he was going 15mph over that that he probably rev'd too far and spun the bearing?

you = idiot for letting him dirve and letting him tell you that
him = idiot for blowing the motor and for lying to you (and for clearly not having any knowledge of cars whatsoever)

i just blew my second single cam yesterday doin basically the same thing but the rev limiter never kicked in but i pulled the engine apart and the pistons hit the valves on 3 cylinders im guess cuz the vavle springs were strong enough and the clearances were 2 tight did u pull ur engine apart 2 look at it

dont borrow your car to a friend, of course he is going to "test" the car and beat the living hell out of it. wouldnt anyone "test" it? the gas isnt yours, the wear and tear on the engine isnt yours, and you want to have fun.

theres just some things you wouldnt do to your own car that you would do to others, simple as that.

well first of all revving a stock internally single cam to 8k. even a built single cam at 8 grand can live so long. bearings spin all the time. yeah that was your one mistake, runing low on oil is another.

Take the motor apart and that will tell what happened. If your motor did'nt burn or leak oil to start with then it was probably from being overreved. No mater what happened the rpm's had somthing to do with it.
