Default Question about this particular Integra GS-R 1995

Hey guys -

I am planning to take a look at the car tomorrow, but to you guys, is it worth it?

Black 1995 Acura INTEGRA 2-Door GS-R Sports Coupe w/Spoiler
auto locks/windows
alarm
moon roof with windscreen
6-disc CD changer & stereo
newer low-profile tires, and premium rims.
206K miles.
Clutch done in 2004, brakes, timing belt & waterpump done in 2005.
Air con, power steering, cruise control, ABS, dual front airbags.
Includes Acura floor mats and front nose mask and owner’s manual.
Original owner, this car was babied. Garaged until past few months.

He is asking $5000 OBO.

The pros of the car is that this car is being sold by the original owner, like stated above, it has been garaged most of its life. The pictures of the car looks pretty clean, but I must see this in person to verify.

But 206K miles??? I know that I can do a motor swap and etc when it fails, but for the money, is it even worth trying to get this car?

I will see if he can sell for $4000, that is probably my max. So if sold for $4000, should I still buy it or what?

Thanks!!!

hmmm.. tough one.. price is a little high.. miles are a little high.. but check the car out.. if the car looks, drives, and feels great.. then see if he will drop the price..

if he has all the paper work for everything done to the car, I would say go for it..

I bought my 92 integra gsr w/ 223,xxx miles on it last year on ebay for $2800. And im 100% positive that the car was raped everyday of its life.

I've put 17,000 miles on the car (240,000miles today) and it still runs STRONG as F*CK!!!!! Doesnt leak, or burn oil.. I doubt the timing belt has ever been changed.. maybe once but atleast not within 120,000 miles. there was no rust, one minor accident.. but im happy with the car.. see if he'll let it go for $4000, if not, say $4500 final offer you can go higher if you want and feel satisfied with the car and really like the car.. and its in MINT condition.

or walk away, and wait a few days and call back.. but then you take the risk of it being sold.

Thanks for the advice.

I do agree in regards of the high miles on the car, but if it drives okay and does not feel as if it is going to go out on the spot, $4K would be perfect. The KBB for Excellent condition is about $4300. Not sure why he is asking so high.

In any case, say I do get it, and worst case scenario, the engine goes...what is a ROUGH estimate to get a new engine dropped in which includes labor to get the baby operational?

i agree with 92integ. It doesnt matter so much the miles, but how it was taken care of. i personally wouldnt pay 5 but 4 i would consider. Motor and install, my rough estimate would be 2500 for a decent one. Lets hope you dont have to go that route.

Okay, so if everything else is clean, we are looking at about $6500 for a 95 GS-R with a new motor...how does that sound? Not that bad if that motor swap does not come till about 2 years or so...

yea, but still if the motor was babied like you said, it could run forever, it just depends on what your plans are for the car. But if everything checks out good and the cars clean then i would shoot for 4g. gl.

the miles arent that big.. if its been driven respectively, that car can go straight to the autoX and tear it up lol

but the motor isnt gonna blow unless you make it blow (ie. no oil, overheated, over-revved, etc...)

you take care of it, and it will take car of you..

My engine sees 8000 rpm daily.. and like i said, its got 240,000 miles on it.. and still runs strong *knock on wood*

Yea, I am just deciding on the GS-R vs. LS or RS. There are a few around my price range, and do not really want to make the wrong decision.

Finally got rid of my current car, so if it is the perfect car, then I will def. pay for it on the spot.

I would get a DA, but I love the appearance of the DC.

Yea, the KBB for that particular Teg is around the 4K range. We will see what happens.

dont get a DA- dcs are t3h illah. u might want 2 consider a dc4 (ls, rs, gs, se) w/ like 100-150k over a dc2 w/ 2xxxxxx miles, especially if u are going to swap the motor. it is really tough to resell a car, even a acura/ honda w/ over 200k miles i wuld say dont offer more than 3500?

if the car has had 1 owner and the guy cared about his teg it will be all worth it... not 5k though, 4 is good.
200k miles is not all that if the motor has been taken cared off.

Go with him and get a leakdown test done to the motor

No go on this one. Owner is firm with $5K. So I will pass on this Teg and go for a different one. Most likely an LS. A lot of GS-Rs around here have crazy high mileage alongside crazy high asking prices.

Thanks for the advice will move on to the next Integra.

Man...you have to be really patient when looking for the right car..

Yea, we will see. I doubt that he will call to lower the price tho. They are pretty dead set with the asking price. I am looking at 2 other Integras, LS tho, not a GS-R.

be patient.... you will find what your lookin for.

i was impatient and i ended up w/ a beat automatic 95 Special edition w/o the fat fives. I over paid for it too.

I didn't have it for over a year and i sold it. found my baby (96 GS-R w/ 76kmi) and paid only $6000 for it.

Wow, that is one hell of a deal. But my budget is capped at 4K, so I am def. looking for an LS and not a GS-R. Unless I want to get some really beat up looking GS-R.
