Default removing melted spark plug boots from head

How can I remove melted spark plug boots from the head? I can't pull the boots out since it's attached to the plugs. I'm trying to do a compression check just to see how badly my engine is damaged. The engine was overheated to the point of failure...literally. all the coolant was evaporated.

Can you pull the spark plug out at all or is it melted in there? Try spraying some WD40 and/or PB blaster down there and let it seat then go at it.

I Can't get to the spark plugs because of the boots. I tried spraying some PB Blaster and pulling it with pliers but no luck.

does it even turn over? does it start?
If it starts, fill up your rad. with water. do not put the cap on. if it shots out water, pull the head. hopefully it's not warped to much, but with melted plug wires, it's probably fu*ked

It turns over but doesn't sound so good. I can't remove the damn boots to get to the plugs!

Use a torch and cut the valve cover off. Whats the loss, the engine is likely done anyways. Unless you were planning on replacing the pistons and resleeving the block, its a total loss.

Hangon, your talking about the spark plug wire boot or which boot exactly? If its the spark plug wire boot just burn it up. Dont breath it in, but itll burn off. Another thought is just keep breaking at it, like get a long flat head and keep ripping it up.

Only other way is to pull the head and undo the spark plug from the bottom.

It's the part that goes into the head and attaches around the spark plug. I'm just going to try and break the thing apart and try to get to the plugs.

I'm pretty sure the whole motor is toast, but I rather have an idea of how bad though.

I filled the radiator up with water and turned the crank over a couple of time and the water drops in the radiator...

I managed to get the boots out. I had to keep picking and picking at the boot piece by piece... now to the hard part...

so you are wasting all this time to do a compression check, when you very well know the head needs to come off. Taking the head off will tell you 100 times more than a compression check, stop wasting your time and actually do something

not to mention that it was overheated to the point of failure, don't even bother, its toast. count your losses and move on, any rebuilding effort will be kinda silly IMO, the amount of work and money involved isn't worth it

What can I say, I had a lot of time on my hands I can't really do much since I don't have an engine ready to go in.

all 8 intake valves put a nice lil dent on the pistons. cylinder walls are all nice and shiny along with stains and grooves

That lil tool pictured wouldn't have been much of use.

Now, I just got to find another engine for it...
