wierd hawker battery problem
i just replaced my normal battery with a hawker one in the stock location
when the car is off the battery has 12v
at idle the battery has 14v
car runs fine....until i turn the headlights on, then the temp gauge goes to HOT (immediately, car is not actually overheating), and the tach goes to zero....then when i turn it off and take the key out the car keeps running for a few seconds and then stalls out
w/ the stock battery..no problems..whats wrong?
the hawker battery i got is the kind that doesnt have automotive terminals so i took a spare set of stock ef battery cables that i have and put the correct ring terminal to attach to the battery
ideas?

check your grounds and make sure that they are ok, i had similar problems with the guage cluster becuase of a missing ground. Hope that helps
