Project Log = 90 civic hatch 4spd std
I picked up this EF (ED) hatch about a month ago. It’s a 1990 Civic Hatchback 4spd STD (fuel economy bitches). The plan was it was supposed to be a daily driver, and it was, but only for about a week. It still has the stock motor and stock everything and I don’t think that anything has ever been replaced.
Here in the next couple of days, I’m planning on completely cleaning out the engine bay (motor/tranny=scrap yard). Once that is done, there are so many different routes I want to go, I don’t even know what I’m going to do.
Somewhat of the plan:
-Get the motor/tranny out
-Gut interior and find Si interior
-JDM complete front end (hood/front bumper/fenders/headlights)
-Finish Painting
Primer Gray: front bumper, fenders, doors, 1/4 panels, rear bumper.
Primer Black: moldings around front bumper, moldings around rear bumper, door moldings, side mirror, door handles, hood, roof, hatch.
-Rear Discs
-Swap:
Route 1 (money saver) = not quite sure what motor yet. But just enough that it will drive, and will run well.
Route 2 (little more money) = stock OBD1 B16 with stock B16 tranny (USDM)
Route 3 (dream) = JDM OBD0 B16 with B17 YS1 tranny (92-93 GS-R) *fully built and boosting with a t3/t4*
Ok, so considering I still don’t know what I want to do and its entirety, I’ll just post pictures and think about it some more and keep you guys updated with more/better pictures that aren’t from my phone.

really, the body was pretty good, along with the paint...but there were a few minor problems (hood dents/rust and a huge dent in the fender...)
all in all it was good but just needed touched up.
yes, white wall rock, but they were really bad due to underinflation....

That's funny, I just picked up a nearly identical car a couple weeks ago. '90 standard, 4spd, red. Mine has very sporty wheel covers, though.
So far I have spent time scrubbing the thing out and I've found there is good paint underneath all of the grime and dirt. No primer for me.
I dropped $20 on a new passenger door mirror and next I just need a new passenger tail light to replace the cracked one.
I pulled somewhere around 8lbs of wiring for speakers I didn't get with the car and some generic Autozone kind of alarm.
Gets good mileage but I can't see taking it to the track any time soon.

oh yeah, and i forgot to add. we shaved off the antenna area and molded the body underneath the tail lights on the 1/4 pannels...looks pretty good.
the dude in the picture is my bud kyle. yeah, he needs to adjust the pants.
i believe tomorrow or tuesday we're taking out the motor and there will be pictures.
