I just bought a 97 accord and want to know why i cant beat my boys 90 civic.
If i got intake and exaust do think i could beat him. Is it because he has SI, and i only have lx.
So with intake and exaust what times could i expect im hoping for low 14

 

your car weighs about 800lbs more. thats why.

 

Specifics please? Auto or manual? An Accord LX 5 speed stock is no better than low 17's at best, maybe a high 16. Your buddy's single cam with I/E can beat you easily. My personal friend used to have a 89 si Civic and goes 15.50's, I/E.
To go low 14's, you're going to need a H swap.

 

not really i took the back seats out and he has full interior. i think he has vtech, but i have 2.2L. maybe I need to trade it in on an EX accord because EX is better than LX

Are you being serious? You have a 3000lbs. car with 130hp. Your car runs 17's. Unless your friend has a motor swap, he does not have VTEC, not even a sohc VTEC. You want to spend $500+ to beat a 15 second car, get a bottle. Not worth it.
