Rear Compensator Arm bolt?!
Hey guys.. I am doing my rear disk swap and 'lost' the washer/nut where the compensator arm botls to the chassis. (The washer that slides back and forth for the toe alighnment - I think)
I searched and the only info I found was to cut from inside the car. Any other thoughts?!
Thanks guys

The compensator arm bolts to the chassis here.
The washer/nut that slides back and forth inside this oval hole is gone... I tried 'fishin' around for it but couldn't get it. - Basically I have nothing there to bolt my compesator arm to and I can't get to the 'back' of it because this part of the chassis is enclosed.
Surley someone has had this problem?!

90551-SH3-000 021 WASHER (24X10X2.3) - $2-3 each
90171-SR3-003 017 BOLT, TORQUE COMPENSATOR (10X59) - $4-6 each
Junkyard or OEM. Check your local dealership. I don't think neighborhood auto stores have the bolts (with the fluted shaft), but maybe a hardware store will have the washers.
You missing the bolt AND washer, or what? (edit: OK, just the washer...)

No need to worry, there is always a solution.

Ghostz... This isn't the first time you've helped me with this goddamned susupension project.. Thanks! -- how are your trailing arms coming??! I just ended up ordering another pair - Let me know if you need any parts off the ones I am not using.

Ok, let's say I do get a new washer/bolt... how the hell do you get it in the Chassis?!

I'd have to say to try and get a new one from Honda and try to make it fit in that slot. I've never encountered that problem so that's all I can really think of right now.
Ok first thing first; Where the hell to find that washer?! It's not a part of the Majestic Honda Diagrams - I believe all dealerships go on this same diagram

Hi SE7EN3S...
Dang, man. I thought you were talking about the "camber-adjusting" washers that go between the CA bolt head and its mounting point. I didn't know you were talking about a threaded washer welded into the chassis (or however it's fastened in there).
In all the reading I've done, I've never heard of anyone else having problems with this. The only things I can suggest are checking if it maybe fell between the parts that hold it in place, or getting something welded in there. Try to use a heavy magnet or some kind of pick to see if it fell below that hole. I don't know if welding is the best solution, as it might be better to find a square washer (so it won't spin freely) that will remain adjustable for alignment. Maybe there's someone who can be of more help in the suspension forum... I am at a loss.
"...how are your trailing arms coming??!..."
Man... slowly. I'm still in the process of rust removal, and there have been some things that came up that needed to be prioritized. All parts are purchased. It's now a matter of restoring them to usable condition.
"Where are you looking for this part No.?"
I go to http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/honda_parts.php
The last post here is my summary experience with them. They have savable diagrams, the best prices (overall), and great service. Don't forget to use the "hondatech10" coupon for $10 off!
Unfortunately, I don't think the part you need is shown in any of their diagrams. If I find otherwise, I'll let you know ASAP.
"Ok, let's say I do get a new washer/bolt... how the hell do you get it in the Chassis?!"
Man.. I wish I knew. Again, I've never seen this situation before, but the only thing I can think of is to check the other side or a Junkyard example. Depending on the dimensions of the part that fits in there, you might have to pry the opening a little bit, which could affect the safe usability of it. The washer is most likely narrower than the hole is wide, but much wider than the hole is tall. I guess you'd have to slip one side of the washer into the top opening until the bottom of the washer can get into the lower one. Then slide it back down to properly align the hole for the CA bolt and tighten it to spec... I guess...
I've always thought the CA bolts to a fixed place on the chassis, with adjustability coming from the use of washers to "push" the CA forward/back. From the pics, it looks like the mounting point is slightly movable...
Man.. Let us know what you find. This one's a doozy. GL, m' fren.

I had this exact problem when I did my rear disc swap. I ended up dremelling a square hole to drop the loose nut. Then I placed it with my finger and threade the bolt.
For a minute I thought I was completely fucked, then realized.
EDIT: I'm talking about what Hatchi is talking about.

Ok everyone.. I am pumped!! - I know this was a tough question.. I appreciate everyones input!
I took a coat hanger and fished around from underneath (there is a 1/4 in hole) and actually pulled the washer back into it's spot. This took about 3 hours and several attempt a ton of patience and a steady hand... I dropped that motherf*cker a couple times.
I guess it's better than cutting and probably took less time too! I will take some pictures and do a write-up next weekend!
BUT HELL YA!! I THOUGHT I WAS PROPERF*CKED
So I got most of the suspension done today after the 3 hours with the compensator washer... Shitty camera phone picture... Gives you an idea, anyways.
