scratchy noise when start up ? right when i start up the engine it has a scrathcy noise for a qik sec >??? but after that its fine.... has anyone ever experienced this with a S ??

 

describe the scratch? metallic scratch? like a velcro strap scratch? A vinyl disc scratch?

 

its more like a internal noise.... just when i start the car, but after is warmed up its fine.... humm...

 

Your probably holding down the starter button for slightly longer than needed, i did this a while ago. A quick tap is all it needs in the summer, slightly longer in the winter but only by .000001 millisecond

 

could be the tranny, it seems to be a lil "stiff" until it warms up

there was a post on s2ki about the same noise and someone said it could be part of the starter...

 

It could be that its really cold out too, My car always sounds like the start is really abrasive and scratchy right when i start it in the winter. But its very smooth in the summer time.

When its cold out everything gets so stiff and everything sounds like it hurts the car...the vibration is definetly more present in the winter too.

 

Could be the starter hanging up.....hard to tell without actually hearing it.
