RSX to get a Type R?
Looking at some Rsxs at Acura last weekend, shopping for a car for my finacee. The salesman and I started talking about the new SI and I said , the Si was going to make it ahrder to sell a car that already isnt selling well. His response was wait till the spring of 06 when the RSX type R would be announced? I was like WTF, those rumors have been going on for years. He told me to wait and see, and that the RSX isnt going anywhere or being phased out. Also said maybe the car would see the s2000 Ap1 motor, i would prolly doubt the guy but he was older and very knowledgeable. I cant see them throwing in the f20c motor in that car

The dealers didn't lose money on the DC2 ITR, but the manufacturer did. There was too much hand fitment and labour intensive operations. For the 1996 and 1997 models there were jokes told for years about how the shells had to be moved from place to place to be finished.
However, that is the only Type R to be tried in the United States.
And overseas they are not losing money on the DC5 Integra Type R or the EP3 Civic Type R.

I would be trading in my beloved ep3 for either a CTR or ITR. However, if they haven't brought them by now, why would they be compelled to bring the ITR next spring???

i guess maybe to to create a bigger sepertion from the New SI and the RSX
If they are to bring it over, and being that it is limited I wouldnt use the name RSX, i would sell it as the Integra

If it were me I would buy the dc5. You could be sitting here next year lementing the same thing and still waiting for the itr instead of ejoying your new S. If they were going to bring it I think they would be shouting it from the roof tops for an '06 arrival.

Yup. This post got me thinking about it, so I went to Yahoo and typed "RSX Type R".
Sooo many posts have been made in various websites with people claiming their local salesman knows the "truth" about Honda's USDM marketing plans and that the RSX Type R will be here, "soon".
The only thing I gathered is that manufacturers wait a few years befor releasing their Type R model.
Based on their release time with the Integra, and the Civic SI, there is a strong possibility that they could release it in 07 I believe. But, it also depends on Acura, and whether that is the image they want for their company.
Perhaps Honda (which is Acura) is fine with simply having the new Civic SI and that alone to entertain the tuner crowd.
I sooo wish they'd bring the Type R over. I'd buy it in a second.

Click on the link I pasted. It's the closest you'll get for now.
Can someone who writes japanese translate the web page?
They don't even ship their catalog to non-japanese addresses...the bastards.
They should make up for pearl harbor and ship that mother over.

ok, i read that link for a minute (gotta go do errands now but i figured i'd chime in) and it's just a dude talking about the ITR in japan. no US plans in there bro.
an interesting link on that site is the one where some guy on the east coast (NY i think) bought a real ITR and he talks about his experiences.
also, go to the ITS (integra type S) page, and notice how all the pics were taken of a car with NY license plates. it's not the same one that other guy drove...interesting nonetheless

i am sure you could get dc5r imported, but it might cost a lot of money and time. i was at a bodyshop last week and i saw a r34(skyline) shell. the guy imports the shell and some how smogs the car. i didnt speak with the original owner, but i did speak with the owner of the bodyshop. it was a pretty cool body shop, cause they had a carrera GT that someone wrapped around a pole and a ferrari f40 that someone wrapped around a tree.
If you guys really want a DC5 http://www.kansaimotorsports.com here in Seattle has been trying to get rid of their imported and registered genuine DC5 for months now. Asking price is 27K. Not bad considering how much a brand new RSX S is. The car is also on eBay.
I actually DID notice the Type S with NY license plates, and thought it strange too. It would've been stranger had it been the Type R though.
The guy selling the JDM RSX HAS been selling it for a while, BUT...
I just don't want to be driving on the right side of the car. I'll leave that to Ridge Racer (the video game).
What I want is Fn Honda (Acura) to bring that mother over. I assume that they're marketing people, the ones who run focus groups to gage the interest on certain products browse forums, to see what people say, I figure the more we let it be known, here on HT, and on any other website (forum) where the RSX comes up that we want a Type R, the better the chances are. Wishful thinking I know.
But I truly believe there will be an 07 Type R (crossing fingers)

The Type S in Japan is equivalent to our base RSX.
The market over here is fuel economy vehicles - they already make enough from that; I don't see why they would want to bring a car over that will be at least 25k and possibly lose money (spend a few more thousand and get a turbo awd car or 350z)
This thread should be locked because it ain't gonna happen.

Not with that mentality.
Honda has a pretty good base, you could almost say they are equivalent to the Republican party, people stay faithful to Honda. Honda does not have a car that really competes with the 350z's and STI's or Evos, other than the S2000 however, and that really isn't a practical car that could appeal to the masses (2 seater factor).
Honda would be wise to use the competition to its advantage, and release a car that someone who is in the market for a sports/tuner car, but is a Honda faithfu, would buy.
