Default Turbo & Traction

Hi,

I am totally confused now what to do. I was planning on turboing my 98 base Lude this winter and already have some parts ready. I was planning to to reach to 250-300 whp, no more, and the car was planned to be mainly a daily driver. However, the biggest concern I have is traction, as already on the mostly stock car I have wheel spinning and hopping problem. I understand that LSD, motor mount and suspension uprades improve things a lot.
But I would really like to hear first hand experience of people driving their 250-300 whp Ludes daily on how bad actually the traction is. I just don't want to have that much power and not be able to put that to the ground, which would make the car not much quicker than stock.
The reason I am asking is that with the money I will need to finish the project, I could just buy an 03-04 WRX and have no traction problems at all. But on the other hand I really love my Lude, so I can't decide at all. That's why I'm looking for your help.
TIA (and sorry if it was too long).

Hondata has this program they can put in the S200 or S300 that drops your rev limiter while your tires are spinning to where you power band starts and when your tires stop spinning the rev limiter goes back up. It's called Full Throttle Launch or something like that.

When you talk about traction, are you talking about daily driving or racing?

Well, I am mostly concerned about traction when racing, as I suppose there shouldn't be a problem with traction when driving it slowly (daily).

I have alot of traction problems on my car, wheel hop like crazy, so much my 60 ft are around 3 sec, with 101 mph trap speeds, car has original engine mounts and 18s, since then I lower the car and I bough mount inserts. At first I had my car running at 15psi all gears, but on 1st if I hit 5k it would break loose, I used the 2 step limiter and it was worst, i ran 15.3. so I had to lower my boost to 10psi on 1st. I feather off the line and it slips less, still only ran 14.4 when other cars were running 13s with 101 trap speeds. I am not sure if there is anything that can be done to the front bars to help I was told I should tighten them more. Will have to wait till next season to see. I'll be running with 14s drag radials, should help alot. Cant wait to get enough traction and launch at 15psi.

hondata does not have any sort of traction control. they have the regular 2step for drag launches and full throttle shift which is a revlimiter between shifts to prevent reving to 11k in the event of a misshift.

The best thing you can do is get a gear/rpm/speed dependent boost controller such as the AVC-R ot the TurboSmart E-Boost (which I am running) and then if you properly tune them you can get the most traction possible. example: run 7psi in 1st and 2nd, 14psi in 3rd, and 20+ in 4th and 5th.

I described it wrong though.

IMO better tire ( grip like glue...hihihi...) and wider tire ( more contact pad on the road ) does really help.

that's just a 2step. hondata, neptune, crome, uberdata, and alot of ignitions boxes have them.
