1st problem: Check the wiring to the tach. There may be a loose connection from the ECU to the gauge somewhere. What does a super rough idle look like? Does it do it when hot/cold/both?

2nd problem: You either have completely blown piston rings or you cannot correctly perform a compression test. Your numbers should be around 170 psi. Check the ignition timing and do a full tuneup if not done already.

3rd problem: Check ebay.

yes 170 on each, also ck you motor mounts that will make it do that. Make sure all the mounts are good.

1. Fix the exhaust leak, depending on where it could effect the O2 sensor and could have an effect on the idle.

2. When was the last time you changed plugs, wires, cap rotor??

3. you compression numbers are bad, reallly bad. I would suggest re-doing the test, do a search here on HT and make sure you are doing the test correct.

4. If you are doing the test right, then your engine is screwed. Time for a re-build, once it is re-built, tuned and broken in correct I bet the idle issue will go away.

Well, do the compression ck again to make sure you did it right. Is there smoke coming from your muff? And your tuner is wrong. 135 is not right, It should be up to like 170 plus. You may still be ok. Like I said look at the motor mount to see if they are broke. That will make you motor jump. If the rings are that bad the you should be smoking like a Los Vegas hooker.

well your exhaust will not smoke just because you have a leak. If the rings are bad the that will make it smoke. I would not do the b20 unless you have the $ to make it run strong. for 1500 you can almost rebuild your hole b18

drop out of school, quit your job and start slangin'...... then youll have money fix up your car!!!

id hate to burst your bubble but i hope you dont really think that your getting 160 to the wheels... id say your more arond 116-120 at the most.

but seriously, if you say you dont have the money then i would just go out and buy another b18a/b. you can find them for a pretty cheap price. it will probably be a lot cheaper than paying to rebuild it...
just my .02

Your car is pretty consistent when you do the compression check and it is very low. Check your timing belt. If the cams or crank is off by even 1 tooth it will run like ****. Since the compression is consistent the cams and the crank might be off. The intake and exhaust cam might not be opening at the right time.
