Default !!! Clutch problem: master/slave cylinder failure

Ok, so I have a master or slave cylinder failure, I don't know which. We'll start with the basics, when I press my clutch it floors down without any resistance whatsoever. I didn't check into anything as of yet, because it's late, dark, cold, and snowing. What should I look for in the cylinders for problems? How much on average do new cylinders cost (both, don't want to risk replacing one and then finding out the other was bad.)? I'm not certain if this is the master/slave cylinders, so any other suggestions are welcome. The transmission in question is obviously hydraulic and is in my 1999 Honda CRV (AWD). Thank you in advance.
