why do people do this to their hoods?
you see the gap between the windshield and the hood and fender? is it because of clearance problems of the intake manifold or something? i mostly see it with cars that have carbon fiber hoods...
Been covered many times on here. Some will say it's a functional mod (debatable) but it's mostly for a more "agressive" appearance IMO. The only way I could see that as truly and somewhat functional is if the car has an ITB setup. (My opinion only).

its basically "cowl" induction... but it serves other purposes too; it releases hot air, looks cool (IMO haha), and reduces pressure built up under the hood (I think)...
Its funny how this little trend has blown up over the past couple of months, I see it all over now. IMO I actually think I looks cool in a weird way
. The Rotary (rx-7) community always seemed to do that with all the fc and fb rx-7s. Now it has made its way into the Honda community.

It does help out turbo cars a lot as far as cooling. There was a post a while ago where someone actually check IAT and it did lower it a Few degrees. But more then anything it reduces interior temp in hot weather which can be rediculous sometimes as you boosted guys know.

Thats how my CF ZC hood fitment was like a loooooong time ago. Damn hood hinges were tweaked.

its a very functional mod, it lets hot engine air escape through the gap. my eg ran 185 degree engine bay temps before, like very hot, you couldnt hold onto the strut bar for very long it was very hot, once i did that mod, the temps came down to 120 degrees. very worth while mod. theve been doing it oversees for years. looks.... im a function over form guy, so if it made my car run better, it looked good.

all the hot gas need is a gap, you can take off the hood gasket and you'll have a nice gap. raising the hood
