ok well i think i am going to give up on my hatch. i still want to work on an eg eventually but my 93 has too many visual blemishes for my liking. anyway down to business. i have been looking for a b18c to drop in my hatch and while looking i stumbled upon a 93 del sol. they look sweet as hell. i was just wondering what you all think of del sols. i never hear anything about them and never see any of them on the top race charts. opinions anyone? the one i am looking at has a swapped b18c sigr engine with 14000, a cf hood, brand new paint, rims and tires, and a custom built audio system that is painted to match the car. they guy is asking 6000 usd for it. what do you think?

here are some pictures... look if you want

here is the price list he gave me on what has been done to it. i think some of the prices are stretching it a little..

$1000- fasteners, nuts, bolts, trim screws ect, just for engine compartment
$6000- Stereo, whole system:

$2800-strip and repaint car Galapagos Green
$2500- replaced all body panels except roof and pass door
$825- header and exhaust (DC Sports header, Greddy Exhaust)
$460- one piece headlights
$500- front seats
$800- Viper 2-way alarm
$300- radiator
$800- new compressor, with all new R134 fittings for A/C
$455-new wire harness
$686- new control arms front and back
$300-600 This covers everything else to small to put in an individual line like 50 bucks for new ball joints, new sway-bar bushings, Civic SI stock tie bar, new windshield washer tank, stuff like that all adds up

if you like it...get it.

you'll feel some body-flex

6000 is iffy.... 5000k is the most you should be spending on that vehicle with the current b18c. and that 14000 miles is crap. even HMO can't pull a motor with under 60k.

clearly, you'll have to get used to no being able haul people around. for some people that's a hard reality to overcome

As delsols in general. Someone has a really good sticky with pros & cons on del sols.

Oh, and 6k is a bit much.

if you're looking to put a honda onto the "top race charts" i'd recommend sticking to the civic hatch body, its the easiest honda to modify for this application on any budget. most del sol owners are like prelude owners, most of us just wanted something different in the honda family only problem is that "model specific" aftermarket parts are hard to come by.

thanks. i drove the car in its stock condition and it was okay, not a real street terror or anything but it was the best of its model, 1995 Del Sol VTEC (dohc 1.6). its drives like a honda car with a lil more noise since its a targa top. mine is pretty snappy, but thats after 15k+ worth of mods

i'm gonna try and actually help you...
after looking this baby over its clean...i recognized a 97 spec bumper..I.E no fogs...i hate the fogs...also no spoiler so i dono what model it is..S,Si or Si Vtec..the model will definately determine what its worth and your location in the States. Also milage on the chassis...who cares about fresh paint...how's the underbody man.. I'd say its definately worth 5k where i'm at..but i could proboly see myself shelling out 5,500 for it..if it were atleast an Si and under 100k. but i'm not down with systems...so i would tell him to keep that ****...and lower the prizice...

hope i helped...and BTW its a nice del..bronze wheels maybe tho...

The car is nice. However, $6,000 is a tad steep for it though. After all, the car is almost 13 years old.

Yeah i saw that on ebay... SUPER CLEAN very sharp (though the green just isnt brilliant or classic) And i never liked black wheels.

I've got my sol, most 99% of my friends have cars so usually its never problem getting around and if need be, the HUGE truck has held 2 people. ; ]

fuel economy, something you dont see every 5 seconds while driving, truck space (vs other 2seaters), its definalty one of the better daily driver 2 seaters.
Its a great car, I really wouldn't trade it for much.

its nice. mf-10 copies(i assume), jdm one piece headlights, 96-97 spec bumper, GS-R motor, looks like a fluidyne radiator, clean paint i say its a good buy. looks like an Si model being that it has rear disc brakes. or it could be the VTEC model. look underneath the back and check if there is a rear sway bar. i say shell out 5-5,500 for it. its nice.

Im the one with the stickie its in my sig if you want to take a peak at it.

Also 6k is a bit high but if the car is hard to find in your area that is why hes asking more cause someone will pay it, there wasent a whole lot of those care made so there not a dime a dozen like the civics were, parts are also harder to come by for the most part but the suspension and motor parts are easy to find its shared with the 92-95 hatchabacks so. Also the bumper is from a 96-97 del sol so if its the 93 its not the stock bumper, and I like them with the stock spoilers on them as well.

Anyhow check out my sig for my pro's and cons thread, and my paint project one for more pics of one as well if you like, Mine is a 95 Si with 05 Fiji Blue Pearl paint on it, RUST FREE. Stock motor. I paid 4k for mine when I first got her in stock condition. But now Ive propably spent like 5k in upgrades and no where near the point I want to be with her.

Also I just noticed but that car was previously blue, not green and it looks like they did a nice paint job from the pics there, I'm going to assume they did the door jambs as well if they pulled the motor to paint the bay, so it should be pretty rust free if they went thro the time to do the bay then they more then likely stripped the car and went thro everything else. Belive me its a pain in the *** to do the job right rather then just have it look good and rust out on you in a few yrs and re paint it again.

That car is worth 6k. 3k for the engine, 2k for the paintjob, 2k for the shell (at least) and then at least 2k for all his aftermarket crap.

i love my sol. its a 94 vtec. i had a 91 crx si, 4th gen hatch with zc, and 00 ex coupe and the sol is definitely my favorite. i dont think $6000 is too bad. i paid about $5500 for mine.

I have a 1993 Sol Si and it is an awesome machine, even at stock. Like someone said you do get a bit of body flex if you are on the strip, but in my opinion the strip is for people afraid to use their steering wheels

With some simple suspension mods the del sol is a road racing beast even stock. With a B18C in it you would have a lot of fun on the track. I would ask maybe $5500 for it, just say it's all you got. 6k aint a bad price though.

I own a 93 sol with a b18c1 swap. YOu'll love it. LIke they said. you'll feel some body flex, especially with the top off. Look for upgraded seals on pre 95 models. Leaks are very common with out them. I don't know about the 6k price. A honda dealer was going to give me 12k on treade in towards a ridgeline. Thought that was a bit much but I wasn'tabout to say anything. It was the first week the truck came out and they really, really wanted to move them.

Stocl sols go for 2k-4k. price out a swap and t'' bring you higher than 6k
