Depends, mixed reviews, I would stay away because it is OBX.
The only thing I would buy from OBX are mufflers, because in general, a muffler is a muffler and all they do is make noise

if you dont have the money for any other LSD then go for it, but personally i would never own it. It sould be able to handle it but how hard are you going to push it. With 450hp and you constantly drive the **** out of it any LSD will go out, some just last longer than others

If you dont have the money for a good one, dont settle for less...save your money and do it right the first time.

And there are definitely LSD's that can handle 450whp all day long.

i have seen spoon and cusco break during the middle of a ameture SCCA race. Dont know how much power the car had that owned the cusco LSD but the car with spoon LSD was pushing between 360-380hp. Im just going by what I've seen, If your really thinking of OBX, just go OEM, they should be around the same price

OBX makes LSDs now?
Or should I ask who makes LSDs under the OBX name?
I wouldnt get one. They're in the same boat as APC in my opinion.

i ABSOLUTELY cannot stand when people start talking about **** when they don't provide information for which application.

there's D-series, B-series, H-series, F-series, K-series

all of which people have in their civics

how the hell are we supposed to know which you're talking about?

Cortney Green puts down 800+ hp, and has been running 9's in the sfwd, with a OBX LSD, and its still going strong.

Whether its good or not if I'm putting thousands into other parts of the engine, etc... I would not skimp on something important like the diff, don't be a cheap *** and buy a Quaife.

You do know, that physical comparisons of the OBX, and Quafe were identical, including stamped locations?

Many many people on H-T are running the OBX lsd in their cars with not a single complaint, do a search and you will see a lot of race cars with it as well. It is the only really good product OBX offers but it is indeed a good product.

I say thumbs up for OBX (LSDs and Mufflers):

http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?t=18501

its the one thing obx did right. There are people saying that one side didnt come bezeled but this person who took his apart saw that it was. Usually there are just problems with getting axels out of most of the honda helical lsds, either you are lucky or not.

I remember seeing a thread on H-T about OBX LSD users that could not pull their axles out after putting this LSD in. Search for it. This problem was not unique.....

Do a search, there was a user who took apart an off the shelf OBX and Quaife LSDs.

Side by side the OBX is a direct knock off of Quaife.
Except the OBX had inferior materials (lower grade metals)
-Flashing/seems on their cast pieces (flashing is the extra metal that remains from the mold)
-One of the gear pieces was put in backwards - which would have caused instant failure.
-The allen head bolts were not torqued down properly
-Casing was not cut properly.

There have been many other users who report horrible whining and grinding noises from their after only a few months use.

I would rather wait to spend the extra few hundred dollars on a QUALITY lsd than buy a piece of **** obx one.

The thread was great, pictures and everything. Save your money, buy the better product for a few hundred more, and save your wallet from buying a new tranny when the obx fails.

edit: apparently the thread was deleted for unknown reasons.

Buyer Beware:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1249085

OBX LSD is about as good as a maracha
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1297614

things dont fit:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1320098

and the axels stick:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1158172

then you gotta break em to take em out:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1196320

Just search OBX lsd and pick a thread, they are all pretty much bad.

I have an OBX LSD in my B16 tranny, never had a problem, works very well.

Sometimes go to track and there's a big difference between OBX and stock open diff.

Just be sure to apply some thread-locker and to tighten the allen bolts, mines had only 8 - 10 ft-lb of torque. You don't want to have one of those bolts loose.

From what I have heard, (and all those posts were pretty old) OBX has refined their lsd to fix a lot of these problems that were previously occuring earlier in the year, Can anyone confirm this??

Thanks

I know this is hearsay, but it's been done in previous posts here. A guy on civicland.com has a 650ish wheel hp Civic with an OBX LSD and swears by them. I wondered by they were 600 dollars cheaper than a Quaife, and the answer is OBX anything else isn't worth your money, except the LSD.

I RUN THE OBX LSD

IT IS ******* AWESOME

PEOPLE TOLD ME NOT TO BUY IT!!!

IM GLAD I DIDNT LISTEN!!

Sorry i had to bold that cause even tho ive said all that, you watch, this will go another 3 pages of arguing.

Hopefully other owners will rally with me.

The thing is awesome, i paid $400 bux! Its amazing around corners, neck jerking on launches, and the opration is smooth and quiet, using synchromesh (no proprietary oils needed here! [see KAAZ]

When i first got it i was pissed cause it made this awful clanking noise on corners. But I learned that was just break-in noise. Been running it for about 1000miles now, built and boost, and its perfectly quiet at full lock even at high speeds.

Cant say enough about this thing, its crazy, and i know obx, they are hit or miss and this is definitely

A HIT
