JDM H22 92-96 swap
Hey whats going on yall, I've recentlly had some serious problems w/ my manual trans 5th gen H22a (1999 Base) so im getting rid of it and swapping in a 95 JDM h22a. As for now all im doing is getting the Longblock+I/E manifold since I already have all the other parts needed to swap this motor in. My question is I was looking at the info for the motor and i noticed that the redline is actually at 8200rpm instead of the usdm spec so i was wondering if i need to also obtain a JDM ecu so I can get the 8200rpm, or will the motor run that rpm setting with the stock ecu?
thanks in advance for anyone/everyones help.
Happy turkey day yall and dont drink too much, save room for the grubb

hey dude, with the jdm h22a you will need the jdm ecu to reach 82 grand.. i just finished up the same swap with the jdm h22 and found that it would not reach 8200 and so i eneded up buying the jdm ecu and it worked. however, unless you do some internal work i would not advise taking it that high and i have found that in wines and stops pulling over about 7700... good luck and have fun
hah, there is no point in taking your h22 up to 8200 rpm, in addition to that your 99 model H22 has the capability of higher rpm than the pre-97 JDM & USDM models because of of the 55 mm mail journals they switched to in 98, what exactly is the problem with your old motor?
Also another problem you're going to have is you're either going to need a new ecu because the CPS sensor values only work with their respective model ECUs. And I think you might also have the external coil on the 95 JDM H22a also

you're making max power at 7600 RPM if you have stock cams, no reason to go over that.
and if you want to mess with your rev limiter, just get a chipped P72 for $150 and a chip burner for $80 at moates.net and download crome for free at pgmfi.org
lolz - crome is the *****

Uhh my jdm p13 hit rev limiter at 7600. I had apexi rev/speed meter logging it so im positive thats what there set at. I heard the auto ecu is 8200 though. Also your stock valvetrain isnt gonna like reving that high.
i've gone to 8000 / 8100 hundreds of times on a stock h22 valvetrain, VAFC digital tach at the time, two different heads.
its fine.
if you have stock cams live with 7600, if you have cams that can make power at 8000 - 9000, just get Ti retainers, they'll take out enough mass to keep you from floating stock valves in stock springs.

o icic, well my motor blew due to lack of oil, dont ask cause i changed my oil less than 1k miles ago and **** just got burnt up by the motor? fukin weird. anyways i copped the 95jdm h22a with 35k on the motor + (I/E manifolds) + the jdm ecu just in case of any problems. i was wondering tho if i could just use the usdm ecu, or would i have to buy a obd converter? anyways thanks for the good advice, o and by the way i wasnt so much worried about hitting that high of revs, its just nice to know you got it =o)~. i had a set of skunk 2 camshafts/aem cam gears but had to sell due to the sh*tty situation w/ my funds. O and another nice note to top off the cake my insurance company just dumped me..lol happy holidays geico your nihalist bastards
