Default my D2 review:

Hey all,

Im a suspension junior, with little knowledge about coilovers, but since im happy with my D2's i'd share my opinion for others who are looking at this setup..

I have 11kg/9kg springs rates (default). They were installed, with around a 65mm drop all around. I can go maybe another 40-50mm. All four corners were tucked around 10-15mm.

On first impression the ride is pretty stiff for compared to lowering springs, the guy who installed them set them on the hardest dampening setting. You really feel the bumps in the road. I noticed I could take turns pretty hard, especially long turns without any doubt in losing control. I probably went around 70km/h around a turn with no doubts.

The one thing I noticed is the inner guards on my EK were rubbing in the front, especially on taking corners. When inspected the middle of the inner guard was rubbing and that pissed me off - so they had to be removed. I had the rear guards rolled so it would not cut into the tires. I would suggest you roll the front guards, especially if you get a camber kit, so it wont ruin the tires.

On the second day of driving I noticed that the ride was a lot smoother since I was getting the feel of things. The turning is amazing, very stable compared to springs.
I took it for a wheel alignment and I have around -3 camber in the rear and -2 in the front! I need a camber kit!

I haven't fiddled much with the dampening, I think i'll keep it on the hardest setting for now.

Overall the ride is awesome, much better upgrade compared to lowering springs, you feel more confident around corners.. it's even better with a rear/front strut bar and rear lower tie. I would not recommend going too low though, as it would be hard to turn. My tires rub on a full lock.

I'll get some before and after photos tomorrow. I hope this is good information for others considering D2's.

P.S: I got my set for $580 brand new

I live in New Zealand, so the prices are extremely cheap for some reason. I bought them for $850NZD.
