Default a/f Gauge

ok so i put a a/f gauge in my car had the purple hook up to the white wire off of the 02 sensor... the red is hooked up to the radio fuse and i grounded the black one... it still doesnt work (it just stays in green the whole time)... when i punch it, and let off, the led's will jump around a little bit.... but the wierdest thing was when i honked the horn the a/f gauge goes all the way to red and then back to green... it does that everytime i honk the horn.... so if i like sit at idle i can like repeatedly honk my horn and it looks like it works...hahaha....
has anybody ever had this problem or is it just me....
im also running open down pipe and the o2 sensor is just right before the down pipe ends.... any input????????

Um do't get a guage that really is nothing more then a fancy light show. Widebands are the only useful thing for 02s.

Yeah.....thee not acurate....but.....it is a general indication..... i would see the gauge reading lean.. because of the amount of oxygen that is available to hit that sensor of the downpipe.....My gauge jumps with horn to .... its radio frequency interference...ohmslaw...magnetic induction.. reroute the wire away from other electronic components
