Default SEARCHED: OBX HEADER

I want REAL experiences with these. please dont say

"you get what you pay for"
"obx sucks"

I want to know from people who have used the header. Please dont say it sucks just because you read it somewhere. and dont say it sucks because its obx.

I want to know how much gains is it compared to a DC(4-2-1)
and the quality.

ONLY header please I dont wanna hear about sucky obx cams or exhaust or LSD's because thats all I got when I searched

Well when you say gains, I'm not sure you'd see a lot. Assuming that you have the same setups, and just swap the header from an OBX to a DC, I highly doubt that the but dyno would tell much of a difference.

When it comes down to it, you do get what you pay for, I know you didn't want to hear that, but for something like a standard header like either of the two mentioned the real difference is going to be in quality.

i have no idea if i really get any gains from the obx header because it came on my car but it seems to do ok, the only thing is it tends to change color after a few heating cycles.

i understand the whole cheap=crap reasoning, but sometimes cheap stuff are actually worth much more than they sell for.

mainly I just wanna know if I'm going to get ANY gains from the obx header, I dont want to LOSE power

youll probally get 5hp tops. these bolt on parts do not give you as much power as they advertise. im not sure of the quality of the OBX header, but most cheap headers will rust, crack, break....not hold up for the long haul. i have a cheap r1 racing ebay header and its rusting and its supposed to be powder coated. you will learn that most cheap parts are cheap because theyre made poorly. i luckily learned this quickly before i bought a lot of parts. this does not hold true for all cheap parts, just most. you will end up replacing them with better parts later on after they break.

i have not noticed any rusting on the obx header i have and you shouldnt worry about losing power because just about anything would be better than most stock manifolds

Are you going to tune your car after you put it on?

OR you don't think that's necessary? Tuning costs (if not done personally) = as much as a quality header.

I'd wait until you get more than just a header until you get your car tuned. To see any real significant gains (bolt-on wise) you should get the rest of the parts that go along with helping your car breath better. So, if you're planning to get anything else (intake, exhaust, etc.) get that first then get your car tuned.

That way you won't waste money on another tune if you put something else new under the hood

Ive had a 4-2-1 OBX on my 94 for at least 6 years now. No problems with fitment or quality.

Most of the collector welds are pretty crappy and they're built out of particularly thin low grade stainless which makes them easy to crack. Admittedly it is an improvement over stock though.

I personally don't think it's worth investing in one, I'd rather make a few sacrifices here and there and know that I have a quality product (speaking of which I had to live on Ramen noodles for 6 weeks following the purchase of my Toda header last spring).
