Alright, so a DOHC ZC engine (with no dizzy) is coming my way to drop into a 1990 CRX DX that's already been converted to MPFI and is OBD1 (had a D16Z6, which is now blown).

What distributor will be needed to run on this ZC? Do we need to revert BACK to OBD0 or can we hopefully stay OBD1?

Answers? (I've never done DOHC ZC before)

 

88-89 teggie will work fine.but there are dohc zc dizzys on ebay.not cheap like 200someodd dollars.

 

the OBD1 distributor for the DOHC ZC is TD43U which only came on JDM OBD1 DOHC ZC - try Distributor King

 

sorry man i miissed where u need obd-1 dizzy. Distributor King<thats the place i was talking bout on ebay.i would get brand new one so u know u woont have any probs.

Ok cool! Is there any way to retrofit the OBD1 Z6 distributor that we have since this DOHC ZC is only TEMPORARY until the Z6 we originally had is built and put back in?

Not 100% but I think it will bolt on but only 1 or 2 bolts holes will line up...youd hafta search to confirm bc I might be thinking about an obd-0 dizzy...

 

I think this is like trying to mate an OBD0 Si dizzy to a Z6 head. Only one bolt lines up really.

In that case, perhaps I can repin an OBD2 dizzy to run OBD1, because an OBD0 and OBD2 dizzy fit an Si head no problem, and if the bolt holes on a ZC are like an Si head in regards to dizzy fitment, I think I may be okay...

What do you guys think?

Ewww no! Please! I hate the thought of having to to that because this car was originally a DX (DPFI) and the harness itself has been physically re-wired MPFI AND OBD1 (not some harness converter) so I'd hate to have to go that route... It's gonna be a pain in the butt.

 

Im running a Ls dizzy on my DOHC ZC. All you need is the Dizzy and the ls dizzy bracket off the head. It bolts right in the DOHC. Not sure if the wires will match cuz we splice mine into the obd0 lines...

 

So none of the Civic SOHC (88-00) distributors I have will work?

Well, pooh! I think we decided to ditch the ZC project all together anyway and concentrate on getting this Z6 rebuilt (this time for boost instead of stock) and get the car on the road again ASAP. Shouldn't take more than a month as this car is a daily driver.
