don't know what to put in an eg
Ok i'm still trying to decide what i want to put in an eg. i have $7,000 to spend on the whole car meaning: shell, motor, liscence plate, and getting insurance. i can find a shell for $500 or less in good condition. i am uncertain of what i want to put in it. a b16b, b16a, b18c5 itr, or b20 v-tech. i am looking for the most power out of the motor after buying it putting what i have left into the motor.
ok i'm wanting to boost cause this is gonna be a daily driver. i want to go all motor and later after more work i'll either boost or spray. or both.

If you wanted to go all motor the B20 Vtec would make the most power, but might leak oil, or you could boost on any of those motors and make even more power. It all depends on how much money you have to play with and what you want to do with the car.

I say get a shell for $500 like you said, register it and drop a D16Z6 and boost it. With the 3k you have left invest in something productive or put it on your saving account. It's not too great of an investment to drop all your money on a car.
yes go d16z6 cheap reliable power.....anyways u guyz say ur always putting money in ur car do u guyz race em? thats the only reason i put cash into my car... and if ya dont race ur making fun of ricers..but if ya dont race and sup up ur car ur the true RICER

I'd tell you what my personal favorite was... but when you get into a scene like this you really should decide on your own what you want to do. It'll be better in the long run, you'll enjoy the car more if you went in and made all the decisions for yourself.
We can tell you what we like, or you can research the differences between the motors and the results that were gotten from them... find the one that you like the best and then go for it.
Because personally, with 7k, I'd put a down payment on a s2k and get a loan... because that car is damn near perfect in my book.

h22 baby!
it can definitely be done for $6500, shoot even $6000 with 500 for plates and first 2-4 months of insurance.
If you can find someone with an H22 longblock for about $1000, get the H2B kit, run a $600 type-R tranny with an LSD. You'll save money in the end by not needing to buy special mounts for the H22.
You'll run low 13s with full interior and basic swap boltons like intake and exhaust.
OR
boost a b18b, same money for power, less reliable with boost, but no limit for upgrading.

w0w thats a smoking deal! Is that a price you find everday, or just a needle in a hay stack. I have never been able to find one for under $1,000.00

Do people still spread this BS? You are honestly going to tell me that somehow a boosted b18b that's tuned well is going to be less reliable than an H22 w/ joe schmoe's chipped ECU?

If you find an ITR tranny for under $1k it's either broken or stolen.

any properly tuned car is going to be reliable, **** plenty of cars come stock with turbos and warranties.
the thing is people putting aftermarket turbos on their cars that were originally NA have more problems blowing them up than people without turbos doing the same aftermarket stuff.
You can't just say adding a turbo doesn't increase the risk of blowing the thing up. it isnt true. It just increases the risk, there is more power from parts that can malfunction being controlled by users who dont always know whats going on. Turbo engines have more detonation than NA engines, all day long this is true. Its one thing to have a pinging NA car because you have the wrong pistons in it, but its real easy to change a setting on a turbo car and make it ping like a glass bottle full of marbles.

properly tuned vs joe schmoe
now thats a fair comparison
