Default axel nut stuck

what do you guys use to get them off? a big *** impact??

we used 2 junk impacts and got nowhere. i put a 2ft cheater bar on my rachet, shattered the internals of it. so i welded it in place so it became a breaker bar and the part that that slides in to the socket sheered of when i was leaning on it with the cheater bar.

im geting pissed cause my brother cant get his snap-on impact untill friday or saturday. he said it might not be untill monday and i need my car then!!!!!!

i hate old cars, this rust **** is pissing me off.

Try using the juck impact gun and tighten it first for a few seconds then try reversing

spray pb blaster on it, put the socket on the nut and give it a few hits with a bfh, spray more pb blaster on it then try to remove it. If it continues to resist, time for some mapp gas.

did you put wd40 on it? i use jump on the a long bar that i level. so don't hurt my self. or you can use a 3ton jack and start jacking up the the cheater bar you have. worked for me a couple times.

Used a 600lb impact gun, that did not budge it. Used a 6ft extension on a pry bar with a 2 inch ratchet, thats right 2 inches.

The pry bar used to jam the wheel so it would not turn. Keep in mind, this was straight before it was used

The breaker bar and ratchet, these are not your little every day ratchet, the axle nut is in the middle, to give you an idea of how big those really are.

The axle nuts

use 1/2 breaker with 1/2 socket..
If you can't break that then cut the B***H out

Make sure you hit that groove out of the axle nut, so it won't hold on to the axle.

The problem with heat is, if you don't get it off after you heat it up, its going to be on there stronger then before.

If you buy a new axle it should come with a new nut.

mine didnt, my brother got them from his work. some guy had them put on his civic but then couldnt pay for it so they took them back off. and since they were then "used" they could re-use them on any car there. so my brother bought them for cheap and sold them to me.

I spent a whole $47 on an 1/4" thick 4-foot Cheater Bar.

I slap that on my axle nut, and then use one hand.

Two hands for crankshaft pulleys.

With the Bar, Axle nuts are my bitches!!!

Big 'ol Bar is the best investment, EVER!

Also tried that, sometimes you just have to cut them off.

i had this same prib....went through 2 hugr craftsmen wrenches with cheater bar and whatnot...and impact wrench did nothing.....we finally found a rachet used for semi which we dubbed "the man wrench" sounded so manly when clinking.......anyways that plus friend jumping on it = freedom!!!

when we took them off my friends civic we used a big *** ratchet and a breakerbar. he sat inside and pushed on the brakes while i stood and hoppped up and down on the bar. not real professional but it worked pretty good

I had this same problem last week. Had to pull the whole spindle off the car and take it to the shop. Some Torch action and an impact zipped it right off. I actually was picking up the car with the bar and socket. The 550Lbs/ft dual hammer impact wouldn't even budge it......that thing normal just snaps bolts off.

Ok i did it too but you need another person to help you. Get it onthe ground get a 1/2 rachet with the socket you need then like a 6-8 foot breaker bar to go over the rachet then have your friend step on the break and i mean stand on it. then loosen it was pretty easy after that then to the reverse to put it back on.

haha... everyone that has to use a breaker bar on the nut is weak! This is what you do.

remove the dent in the nut that is holding on the nut in the notch with a flat head screw driver. After you do that, if your car is on jackstands, put the car on the ground with the wheels on w/ wheel lugs torqued down. put pieces of wood in the front and back of both wheels on the rear cause the car will rock. Make sure your car is in gear and the Ebrake is on. use the socket with a torque wrench and take it off. Your done.
