Reinstalling CV axles

96 honda civic dx: The axles have about a one inch gap between the seal and the inner axle. what is the best way to knock them back on all the way?

i just slide them around a bit until you feel the splines line up then grab the actual axle part (not the cv joints) and give it a good nudge towards the tranny... pops em right in everytime
