Default ???????Integra Race Car??????

Hey Guys
I am thinking of retiring the ITR race Kah and turning it back to a street car. I would then have all me parts for RR (seats, roll bar,etc.). So I am thinking of picking up another integra.
So I am wondering, if there are any people in here that race and LS or GSR in the Honda Challenge? how competitive are they?
I would rather be in the price range on the LS but if it is not competitive then I would go GSR if that would be better?

TIA

You will have a lot more competition with the ls (h4). I'm starting to wish I had built a H4 ls instead of H3 GSR.

Integra LS is the way to go for H4. Very competitive car in both DA and DC spec. Not many run H3, so thats shooting fish in a barrel.

Integra LS's (either DA's or DC's) can be run quite competitively in both H4 and ITA. Both of those classes have a lot of competition too. It'll also be cheaper to run.

A DC GSR will be a H3 or an ITS car. It's a competitive H3 car but there's very, very little people who race in H3. The ITS fields are pretty big but you'll get eaten up.

Go with the LS, no doubt.

Everyone keeps saying LS, is it better than the GS/RS versions? Or is that just the generic way of talking about non-vtec integras?

RS = no need to work on a moon roof cover

LS just happens to be the most common Integra out there.

No H3... unless you know people running H3.

CRX is good for H4, but a longer wheelbase might be better.

Yea, it's "just the generic way of talking about non-vtec Integra's". Like how people call their Civic's EF's, EG's, or EK's - not technically correct but people understand what you're trying to say. My ITA/H4 Integra is a '92 RS. The RS was the lightest Integra since it came with no sunroof, no power windows or locks, less sound deadening, and just stuff like that which made it much easier to transform for track duty.

The CRX is another fantastic ITA/H4 car.

Or remove abs, no power locks, no cruise.... its a more better racecar start. They're hard to find in good shape though - I went from Atlanta to San Diego to buy mine.

Um, yeah.

The resale market would argue that point. Hyper-shizzle R's always command good coin and actually sell even when the market is crap.

John- who witnessed race kars being parted out due to a poor market and ITR's sell complete. -shrug-

The reason not many people seem to be running H3 is that its only marginally faster than H4, but significantly more expensive.

Okay, more specifically RS. That is, if you can find one.

Eaten up is a little harsh. The GSR can never win ITS if the fast guys/cars show up, but it can run top 5 or top 10. You need a good driver and a well preped car to do it.

With an avg car you can still run mid pack and have fun.

Unless you love the C1 or can get a good deal on a built car, I would go with a DA or non-VTEC DC2. More options in H4 and ITA, plus it can win both.

Now if the geezers in the S.Club drop the GSR to 2550-2590#, things will start to look better.

personally, i would buy an ITS GSR. i know with nasa the classing is such that the H4 class might have more entries, but i don't know of any DC2 chassis ITA cars, though the DA seems to work quite well in ITA.

i've been driving a car with no power for a couple years now, it would be fun to have 170whp instead of 110. but most importantly, there are some S cars out there way too cheap already built.

^^^ Anthony's car is gorgeous. We have two ITA/H4 DC's up here in the CenDiv and they're decently quick but not what I'd consider "fully built". I have no doubt that they have the ability to be great ITA/H4 cars.

Zsolt, you are correct. We have one here in the CenDiv and depending on who shows up, he has won in the past. He can also finish out of the top five if other cars do show up. It's a pretty well prepared and well built car and is decently competitive. But the fact is, at it's current classification, no one's ever going to get on the podium at the ARRC in one.

The three DC2's that run H4 in ECHC have been very fast. Jon Kofod's won two Honda Challenge titles in H4. I don't know what the weight differences are between H4 and ITA but Kofod was faster than the ITA lap record at Summit last year.

I think he and the other two DC2's are switching over to ITA for 06.

ha, zsolt i did know about that car, but it looked so dang nice and well prepped i just assumed it was an ITS.

what i should've said was that we don't have any DC2 ITA cars in our region so i really have no clue if they are competitive or not.

if you want my opinion on the car to beat in ITA, it's the 93-95 miata with the new rules.

Never say never. It could rain and the top 5 cars take each other out when the green drops.
