Black Side Trim strip removal ???

quick question:
those black strips that go lengthwise across my hatch that go from the front wheel well to the rear wheel well (trim strips.. i guess is kinda a more proper name).... how are you supposed to remove them? I want to take them off to paint them flat black because they've faded. thanks alot!

I would recomend leaving them on the car and masking off the rest of the car. I don't think you can get them off without destroying them.
I'd recommend polishing them to restore the black....they'll come back...
to remove them w/o destroying the clips (which are like $3.50 each from Honda)...you'd ahve to take off the interior panels...

they're just rubber coated so if you buff them with very light sandpaper (like 1000 grit) you will take off the damaged upper layer...
then use back to black or carnuba wax to make it last.... paint doesnt stick well....
