I have 88 Civic DX Hatch with about 240k+miles almost stock except for I/H/E and test pipe

Well about two years ago the car started to have some issues with its guage cluster.

If i was to use my turn signal (either left or right).... on the cluster both the left and right signal lamp start to blink(instead of just one) along with the high beam indicator light. Also at the same time both Gas and temp needle start jumping up and down.

I have replaced the cluster with a si cluster and it still does the same. Soo then I had added a few extra grounds in the engine bay, one extra on each tailight and one extra on the fuel pump.

well i eventualy learned to live with the issue. Well last night my brother was driving the car and called to tell me that the headlights were not working and he had to drive home holding the highbeams. And this morning everything seems to be normal.

Can anyone guide me into what i should do next other than give up on it.

maybe its the turn signal/combination switch...i dunno

 

I had a similar issue in a CB accord. It ended up being a short under the dash.

 

I would guess you have a bad ground somewhere.

 

Well im gonna try and locate the grounds under the dash... (its a mess under there)

Another funny thing this weekend... i turn the left signal on and it only turned the right turn signal indicator on.

and vice versa.. it made for good driving times, lol... but the outside turn signals only did what they were suppose to do

 

Any more suggestions?
