I was driving today and felt one abnormal shift from 2-3, it only happened once after that,i parked at a friends stayed alittle while then left. On way home it had another slip same gear but other then that drove fine no major symptoms.About 2 blocks from home it started to down shift on its own and slipp really bad like it did not want to grab at all. then it actually would not move at all,i pushed it to blocks home shut the car off and started back up took it from park to drive and it started to drive fine and go in gear. so i would stop put it in park and keep it running. for about 3minutes and go to drive again and it had no gears what so ever.all i would have to do is shut it off turn it back on end it would go again.

the only thing i noticed is right before it started the "TCS" and "engine" light came on but if you turned the car off the TCS light would turn off.

I think its like a tranny computer or something electrical i dont think the tranny burnt up,(because it seams like it is resetting itself everytime i turn it off and start it up again.

anybody have this or anybody that can help would be a big help.

 

Those are classic signs of a failing trans. 99% likely that it's trans mechanical rather than electrical. If it has under 100k miles, take it to the dealer and they will fix it under the extended transmission warranty.

 

its got 131k on it now I bought it certified used at 77k august of 2004 so i havent had it that long.

i just think it goes from dead to a simple shut the car off turn it back on and its good again.

 

acura of ocean (NJ) goodwilled the whole tranny replacement 100% and gave me a rental
