what can it do or will it show that when the dizzy go bad?
Well one way is to take off your dizzy. When you have it off try and turn the key parts that locks into the cam. If that does not turn freely then your dizzy is bad. You can also pull one of your spark plugs and plug wires and leave it plugged in and have someone turn the key over to see if its getting spark. Try that with all four cylinders. Good Luck
mine died on me at the track one day. i noticed as i got to the top of gear that the power would be lacking. it got worse through the course of the day and eventually left me on the side of the road. the tach was bouncing all over the place. my cat clogged up, backfired. the car only ran at high rpms.
bec mines just now just sort of cut off on me but the car still moving and the rpm slowly moved down and i press the pedal all the way to the floor and it does nothing

yes right! that **** has happen to me too.it took me 2 days off haedache and thinking.then on a last resort thing i decided to take off the dizzy to soder some wires to see if it would fix my prob.well when i opened the dizzy up i felt the rotor fall in my lap.i felt like a dumb *** cause thats why my car wouldnt start.,and it took me 2 dayz to figure it out.that happen twice btw.i took very lil bit of blue lock-tight and screwed it back in.hasnt came lose since.

if you see a code 4 or a code 8 then its def your dizzy man mine was shot and then I looked at the computer and oh what was it blinking a code 4 I asked my guy at the speed shop and see what he would say he told me if the compter is blinking a code 4 or a code 8 its a sensor in the dizzy and he said replace it. Just for future refrence. lata
If the bushing inside goes bad, it starts grinding everything around it (orange dust, followed by magnetic particles). The sensors get chewed up, as do the rotor/cap contacts. The internals also heat up a lot, cooking the ingnitor & other sensors. The 'only runnin in high rpm' could be that it needed the extra amps from the alternator to help jump the enlarged rotor/cap gap.
Besides what also has been mentioned, it can also squeek if the bushing goes bad (as shaft bounces around).
