Default Macau Death

The Macau GP weekend has been overshadowed by the death of competitor Bruno Bonhuil following an accident during the Saturday morning warm-up session for the 39th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Bonhuil, who had qualified in 20th place riding for the Team of Paris Suzuki outfit, fell heavily on the exit of Mandarin corner during the session - with Martin Finnegan and Adrian Archibald both forced to take evasive action to miss the prone rider.

However, despite receiving immediate medical attention at the circuit, the 45-year-old Frenchman would later succumb to his injuries.

"The Macau Grand Prix committee regret to announce that Bruno Bonhuil, competitor number 40 in the 39th Macau Motorcycle GP Hotel Fortuna, has passed away form injuries received in an accident during the warm up this morning," a statement from the Macau GP committee read.

"Mr Bonhuil, a Frenchman, was 45 years old and is survived by his wife and daughter. The Macau GP committee extend their deepest sympathy to his family and friends."

Crash.Net joins the motorcycle community in extending our deepest sympathies to Bonhuil's family and friends.

The race was won by Michael Rutter on a Honda, Rutter equalling Haslam's 6 wins at the street GP.
