My car has 63K miles on it. For the last month whenever I come to a stop under normal breaking pressure my brakes make a horrible grinding sound, it feels like ABS is engaging but it can't be because this occurs at low speeds even when I am barley breaking. My breaks in general have a slight squeek to them. My pads look fine and my rotors don't have a lip or anything like that. What could be causing this sound?

 

I had something similar... my caliper was actually seized. Did you check the inner surface of your rotor or just the outside?

 

Yeah sounds like a caliper issue to me too. You could have a partial blockage in the brake lines or the caliper could just be stuck.

 

i had this happen to me once, and it turned out to be a small rock stuck between the pad and rotor.
