I'm positive this topic has come up in the past, but I was wondering if anyone here has any good sites or threads about boosting an h22a. I hoping on doing this next year, I have the h22a in my 92 Accord. Also, I would like to know if anyone here has a boosted h22 and what did you have to change as far as internals with it. Thanks

How would a closed deck h22 turbo setup differ from a open deck h22 turbo setup? Im guessing from the statement above the open deck would perform better, just wanted to know why that is?
Thanks

I have a closed deck JDM H22 from 1994. The engine was an auto but is being converted to run a manual box. Would there be any advantages if I had gone with using the open deck h22 for my project?
i never had problems with my closed deck.
they seem great to run boost since it's a closed deck the block is pressed against the sleeve and would give it more strength.

hmmm, I believe mine is a 96(open), that might explain it, yeah for boosting purposes closed is better, mine was also an auto when I got it, which leads me to the next myth I wouldn't mind confirming,
"Supposidly" the auto 22's have weaker, less tourqier cams in them for the purpose of the tranny, I know a couple of the B series do for sure, I have went back and forth with plenty of people about this and finally came to the conclusion that I don't give fu*k what cam is in there, It rolls out!!!!!! and grabs vtec with 48 whp. . . .

If you get the block sleeved you can get a closed deck. I'm using a 4th gen block from Japan - I'm not going to sleeve it though. I'm getting the Mahle pistons which don't require a sleeve job. I will bore it out to 88mm though.
Go to the prelude essential links - they have a lot of good information there.

the stock sleeves will hold without the motor blowing?

the 88mm bore on stock sleeves is what would scare me since the sleeve lining stock is very thin, and can even be as thin as 1 mm in some areas. meaning that 87 to 8mm ca possibly put you past the sleeves and into teh aluminum that hols teh sleeve.
