USDM Type-S is 200hsp. The K20A2 that is, the new one (2005-06 or w/e) is like 201 according to consumerguide...

1600 for 20hsp? Naaahh

+ at least with USDM you know (usually) the exact mileage unlike mystery JDM motors.

not the same hp its 20hp difference and i dont know how much tq difference. but it does seem minimal for the price. i guess with that 1600 i could get some nice goodies. *cough hondata cough*

Not according to the acura site (201) the SAE ratings or w/e must have got chances and the chances of finding a 2005 motor is not likely

Dont get the JDM version. Its meant for japan, so the fuel is different and ****, and you will have emission issues if you live in california (BARing) and no, you cant square the price difference. You got the K series. For that extra cost, you can get the ECU tuned, and since you'll be putting in a after market header and intake (aftermarket intake will be cheaper anyway, get a tube off ebay and a amsoil or K&N filter) and that alone will give ya another 20hp from stock in the RSX. Theres your 20hp, get like a spoon muffler so the car sounds great, and you dont have to get a damn japanese version.

i did see something about 2005 haveing 10 more hp. but likelyhood that i can find the motor is slim to none. and i will be moving to cali. so sounds like usdm is my choice.

^^ you're defeating your own point. or you could get the extra 20hp and add an ebay intake, high quality header, and spoon muffler and have 40 extra hp. its all up to the buyer

I though 05/06 RSX-S was K20z1 and the FG2 (06+ Si) was K20z3 w/ 197hp (SAE rev 8/04)

If you are going to swap and do nothing else, get the k20r, if you are going to mod the thing, just get the usdm. No sense buying the jdm if your'e going to swap cams etc out later...

Depends on what you want to do. Honestly, if you're going to change the head at all then I'd go USDM, it doesn't matter anyway. Leaving it stock, then go JDM. Unless it's a straight and they're aren't any cops around you'll never need a sixth gear anyway

Who would use a Phantom...

not to advertise or anything, but if you're looking for K-Series information, you should go to k20a.org

Especially if they're shelling out that kind of money anyway.

if all that matters to you is hp who cares about better gearing, LSD, better Intake manifold, better cams, higher comp pistons (than k20a2)
for differences of '05+ RSX-S aka k20z1 see below

they changed methods of rating HP (SAE) this year the 201 this year is the same as the 210 last year

CORRECT!!!!

differences between motors
k20a2 '02-'04 RSX-S (PRB IM, Type S (PRB) cams)
k20z1 '05+ RSX-S (better cams (PRC=ITR), PRC IM, better FD gearing) NOT directly K-PRO compatiable see ---> - 2005-2006 RSX K-pro (manual transmission with adapter harness and modified 02-04 ecu)
k20z3 '06+ si (RBC IM, ITRish cams, LSD) NOT K-PRO compatiable - throttle by wire I believe
jdm K20a (R) (higher compression pistons, LSD, better FD gearing, PRC IM, ITR cams)

as for the hp ratings - they changed the method used this year the si's 197hp is basically the same as '05+ RSX-S's 210... the RBC IM (euro accord type r/'06+ Si) is supposedly better the the PRC (ITR) IM which is better than the PRB (02-04 RSX-S)

their are plently of jdm k20a's tuned w/k-pro to run on **** gas & do it well
price difference:
better gearing (FD) $500 est
better cams (ITR) $500 est
LSD (ITR) $500 est
higher compression pistons $500
intake manifoild $300
does that justify the price difference - yes in my opinion

also if you go with aftermkt LSD go quaife not phantom
as the last guy stated go to http://www.k20a.org this has all been covered

I have a jdm k20a type r (from passwordjdm.com) so i have a biased opinion

teaser pic - hytech adj. length header

You could get a K24... I have seen them going cheep(er) compared to the K20a/K20a2. Plus more torque

no problem

as for ebay - stay away unless its a reputable seller with good feedback - make sure feedback is from BUYERS & recent

many motor swaps listed on ebay have type r in title of listing but its not an actual type r swap...many others that are type r swaps are new sellers - asking pmt be wired to an off shore acct etc...I would not touch those. stay with a reputable shop or ebay seller - do you research. also realize how expensive this swap is (especially done right) you don't wanna know how much i have spent on mine (still uninstalled) - I have extras like toda flywheel (8.1 lb) exedy clutch, RBC intake mani (needs to be modified to fit k20a/a2) RSX-S cluster & custom wiring for cluster (water temp - don't ask), Karcepts shifter kit, aftermkt rad & slim fan, etc...

i would never buy a motor off ebay. im 20 now and when i was 16 i have 4gs to spend. i meet a guy here on HT talked to him everyday on aim all day long about just life bla bla. he completly befriended me he claimed he worked for inline pro bla bla i bought a b16rex and never got it... ive been away from the scene for a while now. but im going into the coast guard and ill have like near 10K to build a car.+2k a month to throw at it if i want

so im gonna buy a cheap ej. strip it to the bone. throw on a lip and skirts n things and sent it to get painted a really dark silver. and im gonna k20 it. at first just hondata, header, intake, exhaust.nothign crazy, real streetable. i wanna be able to know that if i wanted i could drive cross country and not be worried.

and some tein coilovers, some bride seats, and some black rota gt3s.

basicly im going to rebuild everything. and have a new ej with a newish motor and the car will be my daily hot rod. ill take pictures durring the whole process.
i promise u guys will like it
