headrest speakers... who has them and do you like them or not?
That' what I was going to suggest. I've got tweeters up front, also. But I do need to put some behind the seat. I really have to crank it up with the top down, which, hopefully, the extra speakers behind the seat will help.
another option , which is what i did, its similar to the spods but reverse, ths is not for somone thats has there top down alot , i very rarely have my top down and i am more than likely going hardtop and staying on ... anyways the speakers face the rear built in the roll hoops with the top up they get great rear fill and they are not blasting in your ears

I have the SPods they where installed by the previous owner and I was going to remove them but I love them.. With the top down you can hear the music just as clear as if it where up..

Since I'm poor and don't have the money to get a new head unit, amplifier and wire in the controller to still be able to use the dash stereo controls I did this: And it works pretty darn good.
I bought the harness from Lucid automotive - you are going to need regardless of wether you use a stock deck or not if you have an 00-04 S2000 - there are no speaker wires for behind the seat or the headrest in the 00-04 MYs.
I just got another pair of stock Honda speakers from Ebay for cheap, installed them in the rear panels behind the seat -- that took some effort, and when you use 6 1/2s you have to extremely precise when you cut, to high or to low and the panel won't go back on with the speaker installed.
Total cost to me was less then 200 bucks for the harness, the speakers, new panels (I fudged up the first set) and other misc screws and etc.
Sounds great, great bass response, and can hear the radio with the top down on the highway doing 80... so for me, it's all good.

I have the cheap ones from ebay. I think I paid $50-$75 for them a couple of years ago. I installed them with a set of good Pioneer 5.25 speakers and I love them. One of the best mods I have done.
I put an Alpine CDA-9886, I got for a $100 off eBay, and a set of Kicker 6.5" speakers (08KS650) from Bestbuy for $100 and it was a night and day in my 2000.
I bought some homemade ones off a guy that used to sell on ebay. Put Infinity kappa 6.5's in and it is amazing! I also threw some decent door speakers in and a sub in the trunk and i love it!
550 watt amp...my speakers are not powered off of it, only the sub. I had the amp laying around and threw it in there. can't remember what the sub is rated
OP, i think i paid 65 for the mounts and about 80 for the speakers (everything off ebay). Took a couple hours to wire up but i did it for less than 150 total.
I have a generic set that I don't use anymore, I'd sell them to anyone who is interested for a good price, pm me if you are interested.
