type s is 6spd manual only. base is 5 spd auto or manual. differences include engine, suspension, wheels, leather standard on S models, bose radio on S models etc... S has different side skirts. exhaust.. everything else is pretty much mechanical differences due to the engine/performace upgrades on S models.

Ha ha, good choice. But it sounds like he's on a budget.

Personally, I would pick up a used Type S or a new Civic SI. The difference between the A2 and A3 motors is like night and day to say the least. Especially in terms of upgradability.

I'd rather boost a Type-s, Much better numbers and lately i've seen many base RSX's blowing. Just last saturday my friend blew his motor at 11lbs.
